I try to live purposefully and in the moment because I began to think about my vulnerability as a human and how short life is since working in an intensive care unit starting at age 23. Then I began to think about my own mortallity quite often since becoming engaged. I think about preparing for the future while embracing the present. I don't want my children to be burdened with my clutter and I do want them to be able to enjoy beautiful memories that I was a part of; so I scrapbook and try to provide them with experiences as gifts rather than objects. My scrapboking, however, is not just for my children.
I want to be able to reach out across time to future generations because I'm fascinated about my own ancestors and wish that I could learn from them about what life was like when they were living. History is much more interesting when it's personalized and you can have insight to the changes of the society through a personal connection.

It's so interesting to me that I can barely remember the past few days in detail unless I've written it down. It's not that the mundane is completely uninteresting, as it is the fabric of our days. It is our routines that create the daily balance we need to be able to understand our roles as well as sorting out priorities. Yes, having routines can help free up my mind for other more important thoughts and activities. I like scrapbooking about the ordinary. I change in such subtle ways, but I do change. I like seeing it in photos and reading it in my journaling.

Scrapbooking is a more interesting manner of journaling to me than just putting a pen to paper. I've done that in the past, but often, it's hard to slow down enough to have a daily writing habit. With scrapbooking, the results are so much more visible, tangible and appealing. It's fun to use my
scrapbook pages as a means for daily journaling.

New techinique-blending. All the fonts are new to me too.

Journaling is my favorite part of layouts too - it really share the heart and soul of a person. I'm on the West Coast and that's why I'm awake to take a peek at the challenge very soon after it's posted- but it still takes me two or more hours to do the layout when there is journaling involved. (That's why I have to do it after the kids go to bed so I'm not interrupted - it's not that I have this insane plan to be first - I don't care about that at all. I just want to fully enjoy the journey here, particularly without distractions--no matter how sweet and lovable they are.)
